Nelson Mandela Day – 18th July: South African Tourism in day of celebration at the British Museum Thu 15th July 2010
South African Tourism is joining people across the world as they prepare to celebrate the achievements of Nelson Mandela on international Nelson Mandela Day, Sunday 18th July. In the UK, the British Museum will host a free family day filled with music, dance, performances talks and storytelling. Visitors will also have the chance to win a trip to Nelson Mandela’s homeland, courtesy of South African Tourism.

South African cuisine will be delivered direct to your living room this summer thanks to a new six part series, Flavours of South Africa, airing on The Travel Channel from Wednesday 28th July. The series follows presenter Charlie Ottley as he travels around the country discovering the most mouthwatering and unusual aspects of the country’s famous food and wine.
Germanwings ends June with passenger numbers up by 11.5 per cent and starts successful summer season Tue 13th July 2010
Germanwings has started the summer season 2010 with an increase of 11.5% in passenger numbers. Advance bookings for the coming months are also indicating improvement, suggesting that the low-cost airline is once again in healthy demand. In June 2010, Germanwings carried a total of 738,265 passengers – an increase on this time last year of 662,103. With a significant expansion of the range of flights on offer – in particular from Hanover – the low-cost airline achieved a seat load factor of 74.6%.
